Google PlayJoseph Quinn is preparing to take on more monsters.
According to Deadline, the 28-year-old Stranger Things star is in talks to secure a lead role in A Quiet Place: Day One, the prequel to the budding franchise that kicked off in 2018 and got a sequel in 2020. The Paramount Pictures film will be directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig) and is set to co-star Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, currently seen in the No. 1 movie in America, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
There aren’t many details surrounding the project, although it’s been reported Day One is based on an original idea by John Krasinski, who directed and starred in the original and returned to helm A Quiet Place Part II. The first two installments center on a family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic America occupied by mysterious creatures. The monsters, which are possibly extraterrestrial, must hunt their prey through sound due to their lack of sight. Humans must therefore live in silence in order to avoid a gruesome death.
Day One was originally set to premiere in September 2023, but has since been pushed back to March 8, 2024. It’s unclear if Krasinksi and his A Quiet Place co-star Emily Blunt will reprise their roles. Krasinski has reportedly signed on to produce a third installment of the main franchise, expected to follow the events of Part II in 2025.
Quinn became the breakout star of Stranger Things Season 4, in which he portrayed the character of Eddie Munson. He’s also appeared in a number of BBC One series, like Les Misérables, Strike, Small Axe, and Howards End, and recently wrapped production for Luna Carmoon’s debut feature Hoard.
