Forrest Jones is Showing Car Lovers How to Own Their Ridges

When it comes to cars, Forrest Jones is on the cutting edge of the latest and greatest. His energetic demeanor is as contagious as his passion for automobiles. His content takes car reviews to a new height while he covers tried and true vehicles while occasionally stepping into more out-of-the-ordinary mobility devices like strollers and three-wheeled vehicles we can only call something from the future. Recently, Forrest teamed up with Complex and Ruffles to break down how he Owns His Ridges. Own Your Ridges means owning what makes you, you. And in a sea of new tech and content creators, Forrest is at the top of his game, while balancing staying relevant and spending time with his family. An absolute pleasure to talk to and geek out on music with, Forrest is here to show you that the future is now, and that it has four wheels.

Your reviews are quick and concise, yet you’re helping people make informed decisions about their purchases and letting them know what’s going on in the car world right now. What do you like about doing car reviews and how do you decide what cars to review next?

Well, first of all, I love cars. And it’s funny because I didn’t personally grow up wrenching cars or working on cars, but a lot of people in my family like my uncles did, so I was always around cars. I just didn’t really get into them until I was 17. And I think it was specifically new cars. I do have some old classics that I like, but something about new cars is that there’s always innovation happening, there’s always something new. People are always thinking to push the boundaries in terms of what is possible, and what can happen. And so it’s the continuous, never-ending new factor that just draws me in. I’m also super ADHD, so just having something different and new all the time is great. If I was doing what I did with classics, I’d be out of content within a few years.

There’s also so much stuff always happening that it’s hard for people to keep up. No one stays as relevant or as up-to-date with new cars because, frankly, no one really has the time. It takes up a lot of my time and I do this for a living. So, my goal is to basically say, “Here is the newest stuff on the market, and here is, essentially, a highlight reel of the car.” I used to do long-form videos on YouTube, 20-25 minutes, just every detail, which I liked. But I think my knack for the short-form stuff is where my heart is and I never really knew it until I started doing TikTok.

So I think my goal is to be the gateway video. To reach the people who aren’t necessarily into cars and draw them in, whether it’s to that specific car or whether it’s to my channel as a whole. I can make enthusiasts from my channel or I can just have someone potentially go and purchase a car that they never knew existed.

You can have lots of things going on and if someone wants to learn more, there’s always YouTube. There are always tons of videos and articles. I think of my videos as being the information you need to figure out if you like the car just in general. And if you want to know a lot more about cubic feet of room and shoulder space and all that stuff, you can go to tons of different sites and videos.
