Owen Wilson Brings Bob Ross Vibes in ‘Paint’ Teaser Trailer

In the upcoming comedy film Paint, Owen Wilson portrays a painter who gains popularity through a television show in which he spends the entire program completing a new work of art—but he isn’t Bob Ross. Wilson’s character bears a striking resemblance to the beloved TV personality, down to the perm and speaking in dulcet tones, but again, these two are not the same. 

Instead, Wilson plays the fictional Carl Nargle from Vermont, who, according to IndieWire, is “a womanizing, fame-obsessed man behind his gentle onscreen persona.” However, things take a turn when the studio that airs Carl’s show decides to hire a younger artist, Ambrosia (Ciara Renée), amid a dip in ratings.  

Paint stars Michaela Watkins, Luisa Strus, Stephen Root, and Lucy Freyer. It was written and directed by Brit McAdams. It hits theaters on April 7. Check out the teaser trailer up top.

Wilson will reprise his role as Mobius M. Mobius in Season 2 of the Disney+ series Loki, which is slated to premiere later this year. The 54-year-old actor will also appear in another Mouse House property, Haunted Mansion, based on the Disneyland and Disney World ride of the same name. Wilson joins a star-studded cast that includes Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Dan Levy, Tiffany Haddish, Winona Ryder, LaKeith Stanfield, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
