Marvel Wants Court to Intervene Over ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Reddit Leak

Marvel is asking a court to intervene following the pre-release leak of dialogue from the latest Ant-Man film.

As fans are likely already aware, the February rollout of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was preceded by a dialogue transcript allegedly being leaked to Reddit and Google Docs. Now, per a report from Variety, a request has been filed in a California court asking for a subpoena to be issued as part of an effort to get Reddit to reveal identifying information about whoever was behind the alleged leak.

Meanwhile, Marvel has also been reported to have filed a subpoena in pursuit identifying information from Google due to the alleged leak also being shared via Google Docs. Both subpoena requests are centered on the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which was passed by Congress in 1998 and focuses on the intersection of copyright law and online activities.

As for the alleged leak in question, the dialogue is estimated to have been shared in the form of a 63-page transcript “on or about” Jan. 20, roughly a month before the Ant-Man sequel’s release. A separate report from TorrentFreak, notably, points out that the transcript in question may have been originally made for eventual subtitle use.

As for r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, which is where the dialogue was allegedly shared in January, it sounds like the subreddit may soon be calling it a day.

While Jonathan Majors has received praise for his performance as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the film—the third Ant-Man entry—has not exactly been met with glowing reviews.
