Yesterday, an ice storm ravaged most of southern Quebec, leaving one million households without power.
Many trees fell in Montreal and its surrounding towns while many school boards cancelled classes for the day.
Hydro-Quebec continues to scramble to bring electricity back to its customers. Of the million affected, nearly half of them reside in Montreal.
Notable Montreal Twitter user FNoMtl posted a video of a tree falling in the middle of a residential street, hitting multiple cars in its descent.
Photographer Andrej Ivanov tweeted a series of photos of damaged vehicles and fallen trees.
Twitch content creator Cleaven D’Haïti shared another video of a fallen tree in Montreal, showing just how much damage the storm caused.
The ice storm also landed in Ottawa, where the city’s fire services tweeted a video of a tree lit on fire.
Tree fires weren’t exclusive to Ottawa as one Montrealer caught a fire spreading from a tree to a power line.
The conditions got so dire, Transport Quebec shut down the Victoria Bridge which leads to the city’s southern suburbs.
