With The Idol’s Cannes debut soon upon us, The Weeknd has shared a new Future-featuring track from the HBO original series. An official “Double Fantasy” video arrived in tandem.
The single, which shares a title with the classic John Lennon and Yoko Ono album from 1980, was performed during the first weekend of Coachella during Metro Boomin’s set. The Heroes & Villains superproducer shared his excitement for the official streaming release on Thursday on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself alongside legend and fellow “Double Fantasy” contributor Mike Dean:
Last week, The Idol’s Cannes debut was officially announced. As we reported, it will make its worldwide premiere at the festival as part of the out-of-competition assortment of titles. Shortly after news of the Cannes unveiling, HBO shared another teaser trailer for the project, which was co-created by Abel Tesfaye with Sam Levinson (Euphoria) and Reza Fahim.
In the series, which is slated to hit HBO on June 4, Abel plays a sketchy-seeming “nightclub impresario” named Tedros. Teasers for the show have been heavy on the cult-like talk and imagery, all while giving fans glimpses at Tedros’ relationship with Lily-Rose Depp’s character Jocelyn.
Additional confirmed cast members include Troye Sivan, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Dan Levy, Hart New, Suzanna Son, and more.
