Suspect Wanted for Robbing Washington, D.C. Bank With Brick

A suspect is wanted by police after they were recorded robbing a bank in Northwest Washington, D.C. with a brick as their weapon of choice, NBC Washington reports.

In surveillance video taken from the bank on the 1900 block of 8th Street Northwest on Tuesday, April 18, a person who appears to be a man wearing a black ski mask walks up to a bank teller and calmly communicates with them. They were seen writing on a piece of paper, which they then showed the to teller. They were carrying a brick at the time of the incident, which was placed on the desk of the teller in a potential effort to intimidate them.

According to D.C. police, the suspect demanded $50,000 in cash, and they were given just over $500. They walked out of the bank without any further incident. Police are investigating the incident, but have yet to determine any leads on the suspect or make any arrested in connection with the robbery.

Just last month, one of the two men involved in three bank robberies and an attempted robbery in Michigan was identified after he left a demand note written on his own paycheck stub. During his robbery at the Community Choice Credit Union bank on Feb. 4, he handed a note to the teller which demanded $20,000 in $100 bills. “I have a gun and I will shoot somebody PSA give me this check back when done,” he wrote on the note, which was left behind at the scene of the crime.
