Google PlayCher and boyfriend Alexander Edwards have broken up.
According to TMZ, the split occurred a few weeks ago, but it’s still unclear why they decided to part ways, or who was behind the breakup. A source tells the outlet that despite all signs suggesting the two were engaged, it was not true.
Cher posted a photo of a diamond ring on Twitter Christmas Day, along with the caption, “THERE R NO WORDS, ALEXANDER, A.E.”
The ring fueled speculation that they were engaged, and the two only fanned the flames the following month when approached with questions about their presumed status. When asked about their engagement, Cher responded with a laugh, “It’s going okay, it’s going okay.”
An insider told TMZ that they chose to lean into the engagement rumors once they started swirling.
Cher and Edwards were first spotted together outside a West Hollywood restaurant in early November, as reported by TMZ. The two were not only seen holding hands as they made their way to a nearby location, but AE was photographed kissing the iconic singer on the hand inside their vehicle.
Upon confirming her relationship with Edwards, Cher defended questions about their 39-year age difference, declaring that “LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH, IT SEES ❤️❤️.”
