blame it on Meka October 23, 2020

At the top of the year — you know, back when life wasn’t the mess that it is now — it was announced that The Notorious B.I.G. was to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of the 2020 class. He would be joined by Whitney Houston, The Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and T. Rex. Biggie Smalls — née Christopher Wallace — is set to become the seventh hip-hop act (and second solo act) to make the Hall, following Pac, N.W.A. (2016), Public Enemy (2012), The Beastie Boys (2012), Run DMC (2009) and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five (2007).

But… we all know what happened shortly after, because at the time of this post we’re still living in it.

Originally slated to take place on May 2nd, the ceremony will now happen — virtually — on November 7. To help commemorate Biggie’s induction, Pepsi has released an animated visual featuring a previously vaulted freestyle from Biggie about the popular soda brand.

(Or, if you lived in New York City during the 90s you likely heard it during commercial breaks on the radio.)

While you’re at it, watch both a trailer for the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony and another vintage Biggie Smalls advert.
