Google PlayFresh off announcing he is expecting a baby boy with girlfriend Bre Tiesi, Nick Cannon is opening up about his celibacy journey.
While speaking with the Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee on his own talk show, Cannon explained how he arrived at the decision to be abstain from sex after learning Tiesi was pregnant with what will be his eighth child.
“My therapist was one of the [people] who said I should probably be celibate, and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant,” the 41-year-old said. “That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who’s thinking, ‘Oh he wasn’t celibate,’ I was!”
Cannon added, “I felt like I was out of control and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this.”
In September, Cannon sat down with Entertainment Tonight, where he revealed his therapist suggested he consider forgoing sex. “My therapist says I should be celibate,” Cannon said at the time. “You agree with the therapist? I’mma take a break from having kids.”
Asked how many babies “is enough,” the soon-to-be father of eight replied, “This is the thing…you can’t be like, ‘No, I’m done.’ Like, what if God says, ‘No, you not’? I was always like, ‘Yo, I want a big family,’ too. So, you know, the lord has blessed me with what I asked.”
Over the weekend, Cannon and Tiesi hosted a gender reveal party, revealing they are expecting a baby boy. TMZ reported the party took place in Malibu Sunday afternoon, where Cannon, 41, and Tiesi, 30, gathered with a small group of friends to celebrate the model’s pregnancy. This will be her first child. Tiesi recently finalized her divorce from former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel.
