Since its premiere more than 20 years ago, the Jackass franchise has entertained audiences with its outlandish and extremely dangerous antics. There was that time the cast super glued themselves together, trapped their cast mates in a bee-filled limo, allowed themselves to be shot with a bean bag gun, and catapulted a porta-potty into the air … as Steve-O was inside.

These cringe-inducing pranks and stunts resulted in numerous injuries over the years; ones that were not only life-threatening, but also wildly expensive. According to a new study conducted by Nova Legal Funding, the Jackass crew accumulated more than $24 million in medical bills related to the franchise. The team looked into 79 reported injuries sustained by six main cast members: Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, Dave England, Jason ‘Wee-man’ Acuña, and Preston Lacy.

Series co-creator Knoxville led the “Jackass Injury Rich List” with a lengthy series of medical procedures. According to the NFL, the now-50-year-old star was treated for everything from an alligator bite and brain hemorrhage to a multiple broken bones and 16 concussions. The total cost for Knoxville’s medical treatment is reportedly around $8.6 million.

McGhehey wasn’t too far behind with more than $7.38 million in medical expenses. Steve-O came in third with $5.8 million; England fourth with $1.65 million; while Acuña and Lacy came in last with $675,000 and $75,000, respectively.

“At Nova Legal Funding we help thousands of people gain access to funds following a personal injury; whether it be sustained at work, or during their downtime, our mission is to help everyone get the financial help they need,” NLF founder/CEO Ron Sinai said. “While the majority of the injuries caused by the crew of Jackass are self-inflicted, and the average person doesn’t usually injure themselves this often, we wanted to show how much these painful accidents cost in medical bills, so fans of the show can appreciate the financial and medical consequences of living such an adrenaline-fuelled life!”
